Mālama Learning Center is planned
on a very visible site at an intersection of major highways. The
community has taken a keen interest and pride in developing the
project program, which was to, accommodate educational and cultural
needs of the community along with the spaces for The Nature
Conservancy. The program warranted the use of Sustainable Building
Design Concepts, which required using design strategies that would
encourage the use of naturally available renewable energy, thus
minimizing dependency on conventional fossil fuels.
